Nancy: Long distance. Torture. I know. Come. Come in and sit down. When Lenny left for the South Pacific, it nearly broke my heart. We wrote every day until... He was a great man.
Katherine: I'm sorry.
Nancy: It was a hundred years ago. I'm babbling.
Nancy: I love Lucy. Even if she is a communist.
Amanda Armstrong: The only thing red about Lucy is her hair. And even that's fake. Desi said it. Winchell wrote it. Amanda Armstrong. I see you survived.
Katherine: Katherine Watson. Just barely.

Amanda: Well, don't fool yourself. They have claws underneath their white gloves.
Katherine: Who?
Amanda: The alumnae; their offspring, the faculty. You name it. Watch out for yourself. Too much independence frightens them.
Nancy: Will you please stop?
Amanda: Oh, a word of advice. Don't let those girls know that they got to you.

妙詞佳句，活學(xué)活用
1. Collect
這實(shí)際上是一個(gè)很簡(jiǎn)單的詞，希望大家了解這個(gè)熟悉的詞的比較容易被忽略的一個(gè)意思：由對(duì)方支付費(fèi)用的。Collect 本來(lái)是一個(gè)副詞，但是在口語(yǔ)里演變?yōu)槊~用法，等于省略的a collect phone call。所以以后當(dāng)大家自己在電話中聽(tīng)到了這個(gè)詞的時(shí)候，要明白這是要你自己付錢的電話哦。
2. Tough
在這個(gè)片段里這個(gè)單詞的意思是“艱難;棘手”。但這實(shí)在是一個(gè)意思很多變的詞，所以想用幾個(gè)例子給大家加深一下印象：
She is a tough mother to her only son. 對(duì)于唯一的兒子來(lái)說(shuō)，她是個(gè)嚴(yán)厲的母親。
But she is also a tough customer while shopping. 但是購(gòu)物的時(shí)候，她也是個(gè)難伺候的顧客。
The beef we are eating is tough. 我們吃的牛肉有點(diǎn)嚼不動(dòng)。
Journalists raised a lot of tough questions in the press conference. 記者招待會(huì)上記者們提出了很多尖刻的問(wèn)題。
3. I'm babbling.
很生動(dòng)的一個(gè)小句子，意思是“我瞎說(shuō)的;我多嘴了”。Babbling本身就有喋喋不休的意思，也是一個(gè)比較常用的表達(dá)：
Babbling bothers one's ears. 多言聒耳
Don't be fooled by their babbling. Nothing of the sort. 別聽(tīng)他們胡說(shuō)八道，根本沒(méi)那回事。
4. You name it.
“凡你想得起的;不管什么(都有了或都干了等)”的意思。我們?cè)儆脙蓚�(gè)例子來(lái)加深大家的印象：
1) Fancy chocolates, exotic flowers-you name it, we had it. 精制的巧克力，外國(guó)的鮮花。只要你能想到的，我們都享用了。
2) This is the biggest department store in the city-you name it, and they've got it. 這是這座城市里最大的百貨公司，你要什么這里就有什么。
