M: Hello Linda.男：你好，琳達(dá)。
W: Hello Rob.女：你好，羅伯。
M: Happy New Year to you, Linda. The festive season is over — so, did all that holiday shopping break the bank?男：新年快樂，美好的節(jié)日假期就要結(jié)束了，那么，假期瘋狂的購(gòu)物是不是快讓銀行破產(chǎn)了?
W: You mean, did I spend too much money? Well, yes I did.女：你是想問我，假期是不是花了一大筆錢吧?嗯，是花了很多。
M: Well，do you know about showrooming?男：你知不知道什么是“展廳銷售”嗎?
W: Yes, customers visit shops to see and test products before buying them online.女：知道，就是顧客們到實(shí)體店體驗(yàn)產(chǎn)品，然后在網(wǎng)上購(gòu)買。

M: Yes，I showroomed and then bought a camera at a knock-down price online. I know I'm not alone in doing this though. M: Now, although people do it to try and save money, there are other reasons for this, too.男：人們之所以會(huì)選擇這樣的購(gòu)物方式，除省錢外，還有其他的理由。
W: What are they?女：什么理由?M: Three reasons for people to showroom: They are short on time, short on money, and they want reassurance.男：理由有三個(gè)：沒有充裕的時(shí)間，沒有足夠的資金，還有就是想要尋求安慰。
W: Yes, reassurance — so they want to know what the product really looks like and they want to be confident they are buying the right thing.女：是的，安慰——其實(shí)他們就是想看看真正的實(shí)物如何，然后從買到的“物超所值”的商品中提升自信。
M: I think that's true, I like to inspect what I am buying. If you go to a shop and look at the real thing, you get a much better idea of what it's like — but I also want a bargain.男：說的沒錯(cuò)，我就是喜歡檢查下自己買的東西。去實(shí)體商店的話，你對(duì)商品的了解會(huì)更加全面——但我還是想跟商家討價(jià)還價(jià)。

M: That's a good phrase, meaning to look around for the best deal. Using a smartphone is an increasingly popular way to do this.男：說的好，也就是說我們可以選到最適合的商品。現(xiàn)在越來越多的人喜歡拿著智能手機(jī)網(wǎng)購(gòu)商品。
W: Smartphones are also useful for getting product reviews — these are the kind of opinions or comments about the product.女：還可以用智能手機(jī)瀏覽商品的評(píng)論——這些評(píng)論是消費(fèi)者對(duì)于商品的意見或看法。
M: Yes, and you can also use smartphones to scan the barcodes on the product and compare prices that way.男：沒錯(cuò)，智能手機(jī)還可以掃描商品的二維碼，還可以對(duì)比價(jià)格。
W: So it seems browsing — that's looking at things to buy but not actually purchasing something in store —is set to increase. Does this mean the death of the high street?女：現(xiàn)在到實(shí)體店只瀏覽不消費(fèi)的現(xiàn)象越來越嚴(yán)重。這是不是意味著實(shí)體店將要關(guān)門大吉?
M: I think it will have to adapt or make changes. It could try to compete on price more or offer more incentives when you are in the shop.男：我覺得實(shí)體店的商家應(yīng)該適應(yīng)市場(chǎng)變化或者尋求一些改變。可以在價(jià)格上再優(yōu)惠一些或者搞一些活動(dòng)刺激店里的顧客的購(gòu)買欲。
W: Incentives—these are things to encourage you to buy the product there and then. Perhaps a discount voucher or a free gift?女：所謂刺激消費(fèi)——是指說服顧客當(dāng)場(chǎng)買下商品的一系列措施。可能是張折扣券或者一份免費(fèi)的小禮物?
M: Oh, yes.男：哦，是的。
