一、帶-ing詞尾的介詞 barring：except，not including除……外
concerning：about，regarding論及，關于
excepting=except
failing：in default of因缺少……;在缺少……時

pending：during/until在……期間/直到……為止
regarding：about，concerning，in respect of

數(shù)量上：近兩年每場考試平均考核托福詞匯題約占總題量50道題的三分之一。
先從詞性上看，所考詞匯主要是動詞，其次是形容詞和副詞，然后是名詞，而詞組一套考題中也就是一、兩道題而已。
各詞性詞匯的相對比例為：
動詞：形容詞/副詞：名詞：詞組=5：3：2：1就要求考生在學習托福詞匯時，對動詞要給予最高程度的重視，實際上托�？荚嚨倪@種安排是符合中高級英語學習者的學習規(guī)律的，畢竟動詞是人們對事物最生動最傳神的描述。
形容詞和副詞中主要以形容詞為主，它們的表現(xiàn)力也很豐富，也是考生學習的重點;名詞中所考核的基本都是人們常在讀書看報時見到的，絕不會考像“座頭鯨”“一角鯨”之類的極專業(yè)化的詞匯。詞組本來考的就不多，偏難的詞組我們幾乎看不到。
