托福詞匯英式拼寫和美式拼寫的區(qū)別

　　(1) 英國(guó)英語單詞中不發(fā)音的詞尾 -me, -ue在美國(guó)英語拼寫中被刪 除 。 如 : kilogramme/kilogram ( 公斤), programme/program ( 方案), catalogue/catalog(目錄)等。

　　(2) 英國(guó)英語中的以 -our 結(jié)尾的單詞, 在美國(guó)英語中刪去了不發(fā)音的字母 u。如: behaviour/behavior( 舉止、行為), discolour/discolor( 褪色), labour/labor(勞動(dòng))等。

　　(3) 英國(guó)英語拼寫字母 ae 或 oe, 在美國(guó)英語中僅留發(fā)音元音 e。如: anaemia/anemia( 貧血癥),aeon/eon(永世), aesthetic/esthetic(美學(xué)的)等。

　　(4) 英國(guó)英語拼寫字母 -ll-, 在美國(guó)英語只寫-l-。如: chilli/chili(干辣椒), dialling/dialing(電話撥碼), leveller/leveler(水平測(cè)量員)等。但是, 也有一些相反的例子, 如美國(guó)英語中的 appall、instill, distill、installment、willful 等在英國(guó)英語中往往只有單寫 l。而 distillery、installation、propeller 等詞的拼法則在英國(guó)英語和美國(guó)英語中是相同的。

　　(5) 英國(guó)英語詞尾是輔音字母加 -e, 而美國(guó)英語詞尾是輔音字母。如: axe/ax( 斧), blonde/blond(亞麻色的)等。

　　(6) 英國(guó)英語用 -eable、-ement, 美國(guó)英語用-able、-ment。如 likeable/likable ( 討人喜歡的), loveable/lovable( 可愛的), judegment/judgment( 審判), acknowledgement/acknowledgment(承認(rèn))等。

　　(7) 英國(guó)英語中以 xion 結(jié)尾的詞, 美國(guó)英語常以 tion 結(jié)尾。例如: complexion/complection( 面色), connexion/connection ( 連接), flexion/flection(彎曲)等。

　　(8) 英國(guó)英語中以 -ise、-yse、-s- 結(jié)尾的詞, 美國(guó)英語常以 -ize、-yze、-z- 結(jié)尾, 如: activise/activize(激起), advertise/advertize(為做廣告)等。

　　(9) 一些英國(guó)英語以 re 結(jié)尾的詞, 美國(guó)英語拼寫的順序正好相反。如, calibre/caliber (口徑), centre/center(中心), fibre/fiber(纖維) 等。
