這些年來(lái)，“要敢講真話(huà)”，叫得很響。從實(shí)際情況看，辨別真話(huà)還是有標(biāo)準(zhǔn)的。目前，我看至少有兩個(gè)。一個(gè)是心里怎么想，口頭怎么說(shuō)，就叫真話(huà)。一個(gè)是，說(shuō)的符合實(shí)際，不夸大，不縮小，沒(méi)有片面性，就叫講真話(huà)。兩種標(biāo)準(zhǔn)，實(shí)際上是從兩種不同的意義上，或者說(shuō)兩種不同層次上來(lái)談?wù)?ldquo;真話(huà)”的。但由此也便產(chǎn)生了倡言“講真話(huà)”時(shí)的歧義。看來(lái)，我們不能只停留在提倡“口心一致”的“真話(huà)”上，還要進(jìn)一步提倡實(shí)事求是的“真話(huà)”。當(dāng)然，提倡追求真理的“真話(huà)”，并不否認(rèn)講心里話(huà)。同志之間，朋友之間，包括對(duì)待上下級(jí)，都應(yīng)該敞開(kāi)思想，有話(huà)就說(shuō)，不必顧忌。但是寫(xiě)文章，做演說(shuō)，搞創(chuàng)作，情況有所不同，都是用自己的話(huà)，去宣傳人，影響社會(huì)，這就要顧及講話(huà)的效果。(309字)

In recent years, there is much talk about “telling the truth”, but criteria are quite different. There are at least two criteria to distinguish the truth. One is to speak out what one thinks arbitrarily, the other is to be realistic without any exaggeration and one-sided view. Different criteria may bring about various meanings when “telling the truth”. Accordingly, we should not only advocate the practice of saying what one thinks, but more importantly, the spirit of seeking truth from facts. The pursuit of truth does not contradict speaking out one’s mind. To improve students’ ability to speak Chinese and enrich after-class activities, the Students’ Union of Department of Chinese Language and Literature is organizing a school-wide Chinese-speaking contest to be held on Saturday next week (15 January) at the Students’ Auditorium. Those who are interested in taking part in it may sign up with the monitor of their classes before Tuesday next week. Five professors will be invited to be judges. The first six winners will be given awards. Everybody is welcome to be present at the contest.
