一、過去將來時的含義
過去將來時表示在過去某個時間看來將要發(fā)生的動作或存在的狀態(tài)。過去將來時常用于賓語從句和間接引語中。例如:I didnt know if he would come.我不知道他是否會來。
They never knew that population would become a big problem.他們從來都不知道人口問題將會成為一個大問題。
She didnt tell me where she would go.她沒有告訴我她要去哪兒。
Betty said she would visit the Great Wall next Saturday.貝蒂說下周六她要去參觀長城。
二、過去將來時的表達法
。ㄒ唬﹚ould+動詞原形。常表示按計劃或安排即將發(fā)生的事。例如He said he would come to see me.他說他要來看我。
He told me he would go to Beijing.他告訴我他將去北京。
。ǘ﹚as/ were+going to+動詞原形。?捎脕肀硎景从媱澔虬才偶磳l(fā)生的事。例如:She said she was going to start off at once.她說她將立即出發(fā)。
I was told that he was going to return home.有人告訴我他準備回家。
此結(jié)構(gòu)還可表示根據(jù)當時情況判斷有可能但不一定會發(fā)生某事。例如:It seemed as if it was going to rain.看來好像要下雨。
(三)come,go,leave,arrive,start等動詞可用過去進行時代替過去將來時。例如:He said the train was leaving at six the next morning.他說火車將于第二天早晨六點離開。

(一)表示從過去某時看來將要發(fā)生的動作或存在的狀態(tài)
例句:He said that hewould cometo pay you a visit.
他說他要來拜訪你。
例句:She hoped that theywould meetagain some day.
她希望將來有一天他們能再見面。

例句:Whenever we had trouble,hewould cometo help us.

1)was/were going to do表示準備、計劃做某事,或?qū)⒁l(fā)生某事
例句:Therewas going to bea thunderstorm.
將要有雷雨。
例句:Iwas going to proposeto her then.
我當時正打算向她求婚。
例句比較:
Hewas going to leavewhen you arrived.
你到達時他正準備離開。(正要)
Hewas going to comelast night,but it rained.
他本打算昨天晚上來的,但是下雨了。(打算,沒實現(xiàn))
2)was/were about to do表示“正要,即將”
例句:Shewas about to betransferred to a seaside town.
她正要被調(diào)往一座海濱小城。
例句:We all felt (that) our luckwas about to turn.
我們都認為快要轉(zhuǎn)運了。
例句:Hewas about to saysomething more,and then checked himself.
他還想說幾句,卻又止住了。
3)was/were on the point of doing表示“正要......時”
例句:Iwas on the point ofgoing to bed when you rang.
你來電話時我正要睡覺。
例句:Iwas on the point of leavingwhen you came in.
你們進來時,我正要離開。
4)was/were due to do表示“定于(某時做某事)”
例句:Hewas due to graduatein July.
他將七月份畢業(yè)。
例句:The shipwas due to leaveat mid-night.
船定于午夜起航。
5)go、come、leave、take off等少數(shù)動詞可用過去進行時,表示過去將要發(fā)生的情況
例句:They said theywere leavingto Egypt soon.
他們說他們不久就要動身去埃及。
例句:She told mother that shewas going toa ball with Jim.
她告訴母親,她要同吉姆一起去參加舞會。
例句:A lot of my friendswere comingto watch the fireworks.
我很多朋友要來參加觀看焰火。
例句:We were told that the planewas taking offin ten minutes.
我們被告知飛機十分鐘后就要起飛了。
6)was/were to do
這種結(jié)構(gòu)表示曾計劃做某事,如果計劃的事情沒有實現(xiàn),要用不定式完成時。
He said hewas to take upthe position.
他說他要承擔這個職務(wù)。(intend to)
He said hewas to have takenup the position,but later changed his mind.
他說他本打算承擔這個職務(wù)時,但是后來改變了注意。(intend to,but did not)
注意:was/were to do有時表示“后來,結(jié)果,注定”的含義,并非單純地指過去的將來。
例句:At that time he did not know that quitting the jobwas to becomethe turning point in his life.
那時候他不知道,辭去這項工作成了他生活的轉(zhuǎn)折點。
例句:Few men understood Einsteins theories when first published,but the theorieswere to changeour whole view of the universe.
