B: People in all over the world learn English. English is the official language of more than seventy-five countries including Britain, Canada, the United States, Australia, and South Africa.

B: Well, English is really important .but where did the English language come from? Why has it become so popular?
A: To answer these questions we must travel back in time about five thousand years to an area north of the Black Sea in southeastern Europe.
B: people there spoke an ancient English ,which is believed to be the ancestor of most European languages including ancient Greek, ancient German and the ancient Latin. These ancient languages turned into most modern languages as Spanish ,French ,German and Greek.
A: You means the ancient English is the root of nearly all languages in Europe? B: Almost .It’s magical.

A: English language is a result of invasions of the island of Britain about 1500 years ago .The invaders from German area brought the ancient English to the Britain island
B: And then ,about 1100 years ago ,a group of pirates from Denmark area called Vikings invaded Britain, Words like "sky," "leg," "skull," "egg," "crawl," " lift" and "take" are actually from the language in north west Europe.

a mixed-language called middle English came out in Britain.It combined the old English and old French.

B: Middle English sounds like modern English as we speak. But it is hard to understand.It still have many differences.

B:Yes,English is an example .It grew up through the invasions and then,With the Britian becoming the biggest country,English was spread to all over the world A:Like India and Austrilia,They used to be the colony of Britain,they all speak English now.
