本周沃爾瑪超市準(zhǔn)備宣布旨在幫助棉農(nóng)們轉(zhuǎn)向有機(jī)道路的主要措施:它將以更高的價(jià)格買下過渡型棉花，從而幫助擴(kuò)大重要的可持續(xù)原料的供應(yīng)。
四級(jí)詞匯講解:
本句的主干是Wal-Mart is set to announce initiative。aimed at helping cotton farmers goorganic為maior initiative的后置定語;冒號(hào)之后的內(nèi)容是對(duì)major initiative的具體解釋說明，其中thus helping…為狀語。

assume的意思是“設(shè)想，認(rèn)為”。如:
I cannot assume anything in this case.在這種情況下，我無法作任何猜測(cè)。
a bit of本義是“少量，一點(diǎn)點(diǎn)”，前面加了quite，則意為“大量的”。如:
The novel will take a bit of reading.這本小說不需要花很多時(shí)間來看。

由if引導(dǎo)的條件狀語從句，有時(shí)可把if省略，將從句的系動(dòng)詞或助動(dòng)詞前置構(gòu)成倒裝，這種情況下句子一般采用的是虛擬語氣，表示一種假設(shè)的概念。如:
Were it not for his help, I would be in trouble.要不是他幫忙，我就陷入麻煩了。(系動(dòng)詞were前置)
Had we made adequate preparations, we might have succeeded.我們要是準(zhǔn)備充分的話或許就成功了。(助動(dòng)詞had前置)

"I was just thrown off by the lack of eyecontact, nod realizing it was cultural,"Tiffanysays. "I missed out，but will not miss thatopportunity again."
英語四級(jí)譯文:

本句的主干是Tiffany says，其余的部分皆為直接引語。not realizing it was cultural為第一部分直接引語的伴隨狀語;第二部分直接引語中but連接并列的謂語部分，but前后的謂語動(dòng)詞相同卻采用了不同的時(shí)態(tài)，用以突出過去和將來的對(duì)比概念。
throw sb. off的意思是“擺脫某人”。如:

miss out的意思是“失去(獲得利益或獲得樂趣的機(jī)會(huì))”。如:
