“There +be +主語(yǔ)+其它成分”結(jié)構(gòu)中there為引導(dǎo)詞，本身無(wú)意義，謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞按照就近一致原則。其它相似句型還有：
There happen to be 碰巧有 There seems/appears to be 好像有
There is likely to be 可能有 There may/might be 也許有
There must be 一定有 There can’t be 不可能有
There is said/reported to be 據(jù)說(shuō)/據(jù)報(bào)道有

The last but not the least, it reflects calm of a person when he is in danger or in trouble.

connect, combine, join, unite
這組詞都有“連接”的意思。它們之間的區(qū)別在于:
1.connect指兩個(gè)不同的、分離著的事物在某一點(diǎn)上相互接觸(可依靠媒介物),但各自仍保持原有的`特性及獨(dú)立性; combine指兩個(gè)或多個(gè)東西“攪拌”“滲透”或“混合”,合而為一,但已失去原有的特性; unite意思是“聯(lián)合”“結(jié)合”“合并”,指把兩件以上同種類(lèi)的東西緊密地結(jié)合在一起,重新組成一個(gè)整體,使其合而為一,也可用于無(wú)形事物的結(jié)合; join意為“聯(lián)合”“聯(lián)結(jié)”,指使兩個(gè)分開(kāi)的東西聯(lián)結(jié)起來(lái)或把一個(gè)東西加入到另一個(gè)里面去,使它們合在一起,但個(gè)體形象仍然存在。例如:
Africa is connected with Asia at the spot where the Suez Canal was dug.非洲在開(kāi)鑿蘇伊士運(yùn)河的地方與亞洲相連。
She combined some sugar, flour and butter to make some cookies.她把白糖、面粉和黃油和在一起做小甜餅。
Let us unite to fight poverty and disease.讓我們同心協(xié)力與貧窮和疾病作斗爭(zhēng)。
They danced and danced until a lot of us joined in.他們不停地跳著舞,直到我們中間許多人都參加了進(jìn)去。
2.combine還可表示“聯(lián)合”或“合并”; connect還可表示事物之間的因果、邏輯等關(guān)系。例如:
Let us combine our two firms against our competitors.讓我們兩家公司聯(lián)合起來(lái),對(duì)付和我們競(jìng)爭(zhēng)的那些公司。
The radio will not work unless you connect these two wires together.除非你把這兩根線接上,否則收音機(jī)就不會(huì)響。
3.從結(jié)合的緊密程度來(lái)說(shuō), join要比connect密切。例如:
Make sure the machine is connected properly.務(wù)必核實(shí)這臺(tái)機(jī)器是否確已接通電源。
