非限制性定語從句和它的先行詞之間只有比較松散的關(guān)系，對先行詞不起限定的作用。就其意義來說，在句中有時相當(dāng)于一個并列分句。翻譯此類句子，一般可采用以下方法:
一、譯成獨立句
一般來說，非限制性定語從句較少譯成帶的的定語詞組。在翻譯成漢語時可以將從句與主句分譯，獨立成句。

分析:定語從句被翻譯為后置的并列分句，用人稱代詞它代替先行詞吊架燈。

二、斷開法
我們同樣可以用括號或破折號將非限制性從句和主句斷開。

參考譯文:所有商業(yè)性通訊衛(wèi)星(1965年開始發(fā)射)現(xiàn)在都設(shè)計用于地球同步軌道。
三、翻譯成有狀語職能的句子
非限制性定語從句在語義上有時起狀語分句的作用，表示原因、目的、結(jié)果、條件、讓步等意義。因此可將此類從句譯為相應(yīng)的狀語分句。
Rockets perform best in space, where there is no atmosphere to impede their motion.
分析:在語義上，定語從句與主句的.關(guān)系為因果關(guān)系，因此我們將定語從句譯成原因狀語從句。
參考譯文:火箭在太空中運行最佳，因為在那兒不存在阻礙他們運動的大氣。
